Obituary
Lillabelle Holt, age 82, of New Carlisle, Ohio, died 5:45 P.M. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Bell Manor Nursing Home in New Carlisle. She was born June 20, 1927 in Waverly, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Dixon Pfeifer. On December 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to John W. Holt who preceded her in death June 20, 1961. She is survived by two sons, John Michael Holt and Susan Ramsey of Waverly, and Keith Allan Holt and wife Dorene of New Carlisle, Ohio, four grandchildren, John Paul Holt, Tiffany Holt and husband Chad Hudnall, Jezrael Holt and Jessica Holt, and two great grandchildren Kyle and Kaylee. Lillabelle received her B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and taught in the Chillicothe and Ross County school systems, was a professor at The Ohio State University in Newark, Ohio, Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, and the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska. She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Waverly and currently a member of Spring Hills Baptist Church in Newark, Ohio. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at the Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly, Ohio. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lillabelle Holt Scholarship Award, c/o The Ohio State University, Newark Campus, 1179 University Dr., Newark, Ohio 43055.
