Obituary
Rev. Carey R. Hilterbran, age 80, of the Latham Community, died at 1:00 AM on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his son's home in Leesburg. He was born August 18, 1929, a son of the late Orton and Lulu Thompson Hilterbran. On August 25, 1949, he was united in marriage to Gladys Pauline Tong, who preceded him in death on May 30, 2001. He was preceded in death also by his son, Dennis Hilterbran, and his brother, Anthony Hilterbran and his sister Rosemary Walls. Surviving are his son, Carey Glenn (Shirley) Hilterbran of Leesburg, OH, his daughter, LaDonna (Gary) Main, of Hillsboro, OH, two sisters, Violet Singer and Sherry Warnock, both of Dayton, OH, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Carey was retired from D.T. and I. Railroad, where he served as a conductor with 30 years of service, was a former local chairman for United Transportation Union, was a pastor at the Mt. Zion and the Union Hill Churches, and served in the U.S. Navy. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, at the Mt. Zion Church, with Pastor Tom Pfeifer officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Wednesday at the Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly, and from 12-1 on Thursday at the church.
