Obituary
Sophie (Gallup) Barker 88 years of age a former resident at Tackett Lane of Piketon, Ohio went to be with the Lord on February 19th, 2010 after a lengthy illness at Pleasant Hill Manor. She was born in Shamokin, PA daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine (Sefczek) Gallup on July 25th, 1921. She is survived by one son Thomas S. (Kay) Barker of Waverly, OH, three daughters Sunny Hutton, Nancy (Tom) Trent both of Piketon, OH and Nina J. Murray of West Palm Beach, FL, step-sons Ron (Donna) Barker of Bourneville, OH and Donald (Linda/deceased) Barker of Waverly, OH, brother Charles Gallup of Marion Heights, PA, sisters Elizabeth Rutkoski of Shamokin, PA, Catherine (John) Yankowski of Bridgewater, NJ, and step-sister Helen Bristow of San Jose, CA, also survived by 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Catherine (Sefczek) Gallup, husband Ishmael H. Barker, daughter Rosaline Roxanne Barker, son John C. Barker all of Piketon, OH, brothers Edward and Jack Gallup of Shamokin, PA, sister Florence Owens and Tillie Costa of Shamokin, PA, step-sisters Mary Vavak, Anna LaMarche both of Miami, FL, and Rose Gonzalez of Los Angeles, CA. Sophie was a homemaker and a former cook for Giovanni’s Pizza of Waverly, OH. Sophie was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by many. A memorial service for Sophie (Gallup) Barker will be held for family and friends Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Botkin Funeral Home 314 East North Street in Waverly, Ohio. A Memorial Mass for Sophie (Gallup) Barker will follow on Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 at 7:30 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 407 Market Street Waverly, Ohio with Father Hahn officiating.
